Monday in the Big East: L-Ville vs UConn

NCAA Louisville Tennessee BasketballTonight, we get a real treat as Louisville hosts UConn in the most important Big East game since the Cardinals knocked off the then No.1 Pittsburgh Panthers on Jan. 17.

Louisville comes into the game winning nine in a row.  The streak includes six wins over potential tournament teams as they have knocked off Kentucky, Villanova, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Syracuse and West Virginia.

The Huskies, who have just one loss on the season, come into the game with a nine game winning streak of their own.  While they have played an easier schedule than the Cardinals over those nine, UConn won every game by at least six points.

On the Louisville side, it will be interesting to see how Terrence Williams plays after failing to score in double-figures the last two games.  For the Huskies, the question is what can Hasheem Thabeet do for an encore after his triple-double against Providence.

The game will most likely get a little more spice as later today it is expected that UConn will be named the No.1 team in the nation.  Louisville could jump up to No.5 depending on how the voters view Duke after their loss to Wake Forest.

If the Huskies do get that No.1 ranking, Louisville could notch its second victory of the season versus the top team in the nation, as they already have beaten Pittsburgh.

The only other game involving a Big East team tonight is in the city that now boasts the Super Bowl champions.  Pittsburgh should have an easy time as they welcome Robert Morris into the Peterson Event Center for a non-conference match-up.
