Bad Week to be a Cardinal

It has been a rough couple days for the red birds.  First, Arizona losses a heart-breaking Super Bowl.  Then, Louisville gets smacked around by UConn.  If I’m in St. Louis, I make sure that Albert Pujols stays inside today.

As for the game at Freedom Hall, UConn seized control from the beginning, and Louisville was unable to mount any sort of real comeback before eventually falling 68-51.  Terrence Williams was really the only person to come to play for Louisville, as he finished with 26 points.  No other Cardinal topped nine points, and perhaps worst of all was the 2-16 shooting night by Earl Clark.

It was a very balanced effort from the Huskies.  Jeff Adrien and Hasheem Thabeet had solid games up front, with the latter picking up his eleventh double-double of the season.  The backcourt of Jerome Dyson and A.J. Price also played well, combining for 25 points.

With the the win, it seems as though the question of who is the Big East’s best team is down to two options: UConn and Marquette.  The two are scheduled to meet Feb. 25 in Wisconsin.
