The Aftermath of a Bloodbath

Well things were looking a lot better 24 hours ago, weren’t they?

For now we can put away talk of a double-bye in Big East, playing the first two rounds in Philadelphia and being that sleeper team for a national title.  Instead, we can talk about what is wrong with this defense.

They need to get back to the way they played earlier in the season on the defensive end of the court, and  luckily, they have the perfect team to fix their problems against as their next game is against Rutgers.

I’m not going to go into the WV game, but Nate has the article coming out next week, and I don’t want to step on his toes.  Instead, I’ll just give you some observations from my trip to Morgantown:

– On a Friday night in a must-win game, West Virginia failed to fill its student section.  Apparently, from what I could gather they have a terrible student fan base, so this was not a shock.  The other tickets did not sell-out as well.

– Joe Alexander was in attendance, and got a large ovation from the crowd.  However, the loudest the crowd got was during “Cotton-eyed Joe.”  You can’t make this stuff up.

– Da’Sean Butler injured his ankle in practice the day before the game.  Apparently, it had no effect.
