Quick Recap: Villanova 92 Louisville 84

The game featured 66 fouls, 94 free throws, 43 turnovers and a 17-point Louisville lead, but in the end none of these things would prove to be a hindrance to Villanova, which scored 56 points in the second half en route to its 15th victory of the season.

The leader of that comeback was senior guard Scottie Reynolds, who played his best game of the season.  Reynolds hit nine of ten shots, including his first eight and finished the game with a season-high 36 points.  The senior made all five of his 3-point attempts and connected on 13 of 17 free throw attempts.

With the high rate of fouls, Villanova needed every player in its deep rotation, and aside from Reynolds, junior guard Corey Fisher, sophomore forward Taylor King and freshman guard Maalik Wayns all stepped up for the Wildcats as the three players finished in double figures in scoring.

After being baffled by Louisville’s full court press for much of the first half, Villanova finally accustomed itself to the pressure and was able to find plenty of open looks.  The Wildcats finished the evening shooting 50 percent from the field as they knocked down 24 of 48 shots.

Meanwhile, the Wildcat defense created its own havoc, and while the high foul total may have inflated the final score, Villanova allowed Louisville to shoot just 30.6 percent from the field, making just 19 of 62 shots.

The win now gives Villanova a 4-0 record in conference.  The Wildcats and Pittsburgh are the Big East’s only two remaining undefeated teams.  Next up for Villanova will be a home game against Georgetown at the Wachovia Center on Sunday.
